NEXT LAB WILL HAVE A VIRTUAL SPACE AND THE PHYSICAL PRESENCE OF THE 3 WINNING PROJECTS AT THE PRESTIGIOUS ANNECY FESTIVAL
Next Lab, the initiative that connects art and technology in the animation and digital content industry, mainly sponsored by Comunidad de Madrid, will have a virtual space at the prestigious Festival international du film d’animation d’Annecy on June 16th. The three winners of the first edition workshop will be present at the festival thanks to the support of the ICAA and they will make an online pitch. They will be giving details about the progress of their projects and will talk about the approach that Next Lab has given to the use of new technologies, such as VR, for animation production.
The pitch will take place on Wednesday June 16th at 11:00h (UTC+2) and will begin with an introduction by Manuel Cristóbal, Audiovisual industries consultant, Consejería de Cultura y Turismo at Comunidad de Madrid, and José Luis Farias, Next Lab Director.
The three winning projects of the workshop that ended last February will discuss the progress made in their work and how the incorporation of new technological tools has helped them in the production process. Enric Sant and María Burgués will give a talk on “IBIS”; Joaquín Martínez will present “Going down”; and Rubén Fernández will conclude this online pitch with “Protocolo Flambé”.
Under the title “Next Lab: Disruptive Technologies in the Animation Industry”, this virtual space will also be an opportunity to continue to explain the different aspects of Next Lab, an initiative based on a workshop, an event and an online platform that includes, among other content, conferences, research articles and links of interest to the sector. This first year,it was mainly focused on the use of VR, XR and AR tools together with the use of video game rendering engines for prototyping and VFX production.
Tickets and the full programme for the festival, which will take place in a hybrid format from 14th to 19th June 2021, are now available on the Annecy website.
