DEAPLANETA ENTERTAINMENT AND NEXT LAB PROVIDE A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE ANIMATION PROJECTS A REALITY

On December 3rd, Next Lab opened the call for the second edition of its free workshop and gave more details about the support from DeAPlaneta Entertainment, a leading European company in the creation and commercialization of entertainment for the whole family.

DeAPlaneta Entertainment is the integration of Planeta Junior and DeAPlaneta, both companies of Grupo Planeta/De Agostini. This integration of both companies responds to a strategic reorganization that seeks to consolidate its leadership in the entertainment sector, more efficiently articulate its business model and gain agility to respond to the new needs of a global and omnichannel market.

With these objectives and in search of local and emerging talent, DeAPlaneta Entertainment will select and support one of the animation projects participating in the Next Lab workshop, which will have a complementary 3 months of mentoring with international experts to develop the IP, in addition to a co-development contract worth € 6,000.

The winning project will have the opportunity to build a brand working together with DeAPlaneta Entertainment, starting from their original idea and leaning on the company's more than 20 years of experience producing and distributing content globally. It will also have 3 months of consultancies with international talent and various professionals and experts from the sector, which may vary depending on the nature and target of the selected project.

The company is looking for modern animation projects for a target of 7 to 12 years old, with the potential to become an IP (that can generate derivative products, become a video game, initiate collecting, etc.) and that gets out of the most common codes of conventional animation. In addition, the company will value that the project is conceived for different types of digital platforms, which could be from the most current social media such as Tik Tok or Twitch, to virtual spaces such as the Metaverse. Once the workshop and the three months of consultancy are finished, if the project keeps on going, the creator will keep 5% of the IP for his idea and DeAPlaneta Entertainment will be the majority partner, responsible for the search of partners.

To be eligible for this award, interested projects must register in the call for projects of Next Lab's free workshop, which will focus on the application of creative tools within the virtual environment to improve creative and productive processes. In addition, they must confirm the conditions of the award in the form and send an extra dossier, of no more than 4 sheets, where how the project complies these additional characteristics and to what extent is explained. All types of animation projects are accepted, as well as live-action projects with high animation content or VFX. Project registration is free, through the event website, and is open until December 19th at 11:59 p.m. Madrid time.
